Throughout the course of history our God has intervened in a divine way. He has intervened at certain times and He has revealed Himself and participated in the lives of people. Many of these events have been recorded in what we refer to as the Bible. There are events which take place throughout the year in Judaism and also within Christianity where people will celebrate the intervention that our God has performed in our lives as a way of remembering what He did, said and how He intervened. We did this so we will never forget that God did take the time and put out some effort to show us that He exists, that He is alive, that He is a part of the history of the world and that He is participating. Through knowing this we can have some degree of confidence that He is still with us and that there will be times when He will intervene in a divine way. We cannot pass judgment on Him as to when He doesn't do this or when He does do this or how He does or doesn't do this because these are decisions that He gets to make and we get to enjoy whatever decision He makes. Through all things in life He can use everything that we encounter and experience to show us something about who He is. He does this so that we can be drawn to Him and see Him in the scope of reality that we live in. One of these celebrations or festivals that take place is the festival of Hanukkah. Hanukkah is very important in the history of Israel before Jesus Christ, the Messiah came, but it is also relevant to the people after Jesus came. Please listen as Pastor Aaron Budjen gives a presentation of the history related to the miracle of Hanukkah, and explains how God revealed Himself in the midst of the difficulties faced by the children of Israel.
Frustrated, I exclaimed to God, "if this is getting to know you, I won't know you." Ten years later the Lord would answer my prayer. After becoming a born again Christian I learned that what I sought to gain through sin could only be found in the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Now, I desire to share the finished work of Christ and His life in the believer with all who seek to find rest from the impossible burdens of life and religion.
