Psalm 69:7–9 and Matthew 10:34–36 both reveal the tension between devotion to God and relational fallout. David speaks of bearing reproach and becoming a stranger to his own family because of his zeal for God’s house. Jesus echoes this cost, declaring that His coming will divide households—not with peace, but with a sword of truth.
